3. Discuss the land acquisition situation - The obvious disappointment of not being able to move forward with the land acquisition of the Worlein property.  Having our annual banquet is our major fundraiser for the land deals.  Putting more monetary resources into our existing programs for youth or Hunt For A Cure.

We have a meeting tentatively scheduled for Thursday August 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the clubhouse of the Cedar Valley Conservation Center. This is for discussion with PF Regional and State PF personnel to discuss moving forward with future land acquisitions.

Other ideas on the subject were:

  • Considering other Pheasants organizations to sponsor our land acquisitions was discussed.  The state organization for Pheasants Forever would be a good place to start for being considered by the state organization.  Liability and property taxes are the main outlay for considering us as a viable acquisition partner.  This was the leading approach that we decided upon at this meeting.
  • Organizations in Albert Lea and Owatonna were brought up as organizations to research.
  • Putting our money into improving our existing properties was also discussed and considered for movement forward.  The Schottler parcel is would not be a property we could do this with.
  • Waiting until the new DNR representative.

4. Discuss 2019 Governor's Pheasant Opener and our involvement as a chapter -

We are one of three cities that are currently under consideration.  This is a great PR opportunity for our community and our chapter.   Exposure will be seen in 38 states, 150 hunters and at least 50 media people will attend.  Exposing your community to the rest of the nation and our state is a wonderful way to show all the many good things we do as an organization..  Community events are scheduled with tours of the Nature Center and many other facilitates.

August 1st is the deadline for the submission of the forms.  The actual presentation is a big part of how the committee that We can highlight our walk in access property with maps to show hunting lands.  Youth trap team, Hunt For A Cure, Youth Gun Club membership.  Highlight the ladies trap shoot at the CVCC as well as a DAV shoot to be sponsored at Three Arrows Hunting Preserve.
